Join self-described fat bikers, Marley Blonsky and Kailey Kornhauser, star of Shimano’s All Bodies on Bikes film for a class all about biking as a big person.
The world looks a little different when you live life in a larger body. Marley Blonsky and Kailey Kornhauser are intimately familiar with this, having grown up as fat kids and now living and riding bikes as fat women. As the cycling world is rapidly growing and more people of all sizes are getting into biking, Marley and Kailey are excited to share their wealth of knowledge with others who live in a large body.
The pair, who self-identify as fat, will be teaching a one hour webinar called “Biking for Big People” on May 28th at 5.00pm PST. There will be lots of time at the end of the class for questions as well!
Topics of discussion will include:
Bike Buyer’s Guide
Types of Bikes, including Pros/Cons for Larger Bodies
Seat Choice
Types of Bike Shops (and tips on how to have a more pleasant shop experience)
Clothing Choices for Larger Bodied Riders
Practical Riding Advice
Shifting, Gears, Building Endurance, Climbing Hills
Bike Fit
Component Wear and Tear
Pain while riding and how to fix it
Community Building & Creating Inclusive Communities
We believe biking should be fun, affordable and accessible to all people. The class is being offered on a sliding-scale model and ask that you pay what you can, no questions asked.
The class will be held virtually on Zoom, with a recording available to all registered participants afterwards. These sell out quickly so be sure to grab your spot for May soon!
